emily
who is she

a little curious, always.

hi, emily
is here.

01 — HELLO

Remembering the voices and images of our encounters.
Understanding what they mean.

I start with language and cultural understanding, exploring how people express themselves and feel, and how technology becomes part of everyday life.

The questions I keep coming back to

WHAT I'M THINKING ABOUT

Finding questions worth exploring
in the details of human encounters.

01 / LANGUAGE & UNDERSTANDINGAn ongoing interest

Beyond understanding the words,
how do we understand a person?

Language makes communication possible. Tone, pauses, cultural context, and a willingness to connect sincerely also shape understanding.

In practice

In subtitle localization, I bring spoken dialogue, on-screen text, and a glossary into one review process, checking both meaning and context.

See the subtitle workflow

When we keep voices and images, what meaning should we preserve with them?

02 / TECHNOLOGY & EVERYDAY LIFEA question to explore

What makes a device
something we want to keep wearing?

I’m interested in how function, aesthetics, and the experience of wearing something together shape the decision to bring it into everyday life.

Why do we need another device?

At what specific moment does it help someone do something that a phone or existing tools make difficult?

Why would we keep wearing it?

After the novelty fades, what reasons do its function, appearance, and personal meaning each give us to put it on again?

What does comfortable wear mean?

When do people adjust, remove, or cover it? Physical sensations and social situations both deserve attention.

From one more feature to a reason to wear it.

SELECTED PRACTICE

From user research
to products and published content.

01 / Personal project · 2026

Across languages, with context intact.

I built an AI-assisted subtitle workflow and a web review interface, then localized, packaged, and published Korean-language videos.

I connected speech transcription, on-screen text recognition, Qwen translation, a glossary, and human review. I iterated on subtitle following, insertion, undo, and version management.

I defined first-pass acceptance and human review time metrics, and adjusted topic selection using feedback at 24 and 72 hours after publication. Over a 30-day period: 5K+ views, 106 saves, and a net gain of 20 followers.

02 / Thoughtworks · Business Analyst · 2022–2023

Bringing different users’ needs into a product.

I contributed to MVP2 of a global talent development platform through user research across regions, business logic, Story Cards, and delivery coordination.

See my contribution

I contributed to competitive analysis and user research in regions including Germany, the US, China, and India. I clarified requirements and business logic, wrote Story Cards, and coordinated UI delivery.

After launch, the team’s product expanded from 4 countries and 400+ users to 17 countries and 900+ users.

ALSO IN PRACTICE
Amazon operations · North AmericaUser signals → product selection → listings and ad testing

In a collaborative project, I handled user insights, supplier coordination, brand and store registration, product listings, and advertising launch. I completed listing and initial ad testing within 90 days, and built a Reddit voice-of-customer analysis framework and a product selection dashboard.

Growth research · XiaohongshuDesk research and expert and user interviews → strategy input

During my growth strategy internship, I researched social products in China and abroad, channels, creator incentives, and user behavior. I helped the team produce internal strategy documents every two to three weeks on average.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Understand people.
Respect each field’s expertise.

I translate needs that users struggle to articulate into products that can reach the market. I focus on topics and products related to mental, emotional, and physical health.

Working together

Cross-cultural content, tools for expression and memory, and wearable experiences are areas I want to explore with collaborators. We start with a concrete problem, clear roles, and agreed delivery criteria.

  1. 01 / PLANDefine the need

Understand people, context, and constraints. Set acceptance criteria.

  2. 02 / PLANAlign understanding

Break down the problem and compare approaches with Claude / Codex.

  3. 03 / DOBuild a small version

Create the structure and workflow, keeping human judgment in the process.

  4. 04 / CHECK & ACTReview and adjust

Check results against real tasks and iterate through the PDCA cycle.
